Video Only hold your money hostage

I am new to blogging as many people are but this was something I felt so strongly about I had to blog about it.
I felt the word had to get out for those who are not familiar with Video Only Electronic stores and their refund or lack of refund policy.

I purchased a pair of high end speakers to use as monitors for recording with my Tascam 8 track portastudio.
once I was home and hooked these up they kept tripping the safety shut down on the amp. This was an older amp so I figured time for a new amp. Well they did the same thing with the new amp.
I would like to mention that I never had this problem with the 25+ year old amp and speakers but one of the speakers went so I figured time to upgrade

I contacted Video Only and explained that the speaker were not working with the old or new amp and that I needed to return them.
Now comes the kicker. They did not offer refunds, only store credit. What business in this day and age only offers store credit.
The amp I ordered from tiger direct and when I inquired about their return policy I was told "No problem. 30 days and no restocking fee.

I even offered Video only to pay a restocking fee but no deal.
They are going to make you spemd your money at their store no matter what.

Here is just a list of complaints about this business

Here is another entry from yelp.com

"

BUYER BEWARE:

If you open anything purchase from any Video Only, they will give you store credit only even if you return it the next day! No restocking fee, no refund, STORE CREDIT ONLY if the item is open.

Another from my3cents.com

" I tried returning a DVD/VCR to this store. No problem, right? WRONG! All they offer is an exchange or a store credit. Granted, this is printed on their receipt, I should have seen and read it, should have asked what their return policy was, etc, but I just didn't expect a large company like Video Only to use this practice. This is the sort of practice common in small one-of-a-kind shops. Not a large chain. I'm glad I didn't buy and return a 6000 dollar plasma TV. But a good lesson was learned. Ask about return policies and don't shop at Video Only.

Nordstrom and Costco, to name just two, didn't become as big as they are by using these practices. I won't be buying anything from Video Only again.

What kind of archaic business practice are they running? Are they so afraid of loosing money that they have to hold your hostage and force you to buy only their products?

Their prices are not that great, in fact you can find them for much less elsewhere.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this business at all cost. It is the only way to send a message to them that these outdated practices will not be tolerated.

Go to Best Buy or Costco or even Walmart and you can return for a full refund no questions asked.
